Spectacle Artefact
- Innocent
- Evil
This will be developed into my final piece, I have explored different meanings of spectacle here. The literal meaning – the way what is reflected in the mirror is different, it is so obviously staged and edited. One underlying meaning of spectacle is the voyeuristic aspect of the photograph itself and the slightly open door.
I might change the positioning of the television still, or change to another form of media to show the control the media to show the control the media holds and the representation of women; another spectacle in themselves. Both women are ‘undressed’ one in white (connotations of innocence, and purity) and the reflection in black (connotations of power, control and authority).
The reflection appears more powerful; she is smiling towards the camera/audience; her expression tells us she knows she is being watched, this empowers her, especially in what she is wearing.
